Seven 4 man teams teed it up at Donovan GC for the 12th Annual Hooters World Championship Scramble. Only 4 strokes separated the 1st from the 7th place team. The winning team of Steve McDowell, Frank Bradley, Neal Pearson and Tony King shot a 61 to capture the crown. Two teams finished at 9 under 62 and a score card playoff decide the runner up team of Ryan Samp, Reno, Bill Leroy and Bob Kooy.
Tim McClintick nearly holed his tee shot on #14 for an ace missing my an inch (6 inches according to Susan Hayes). Doyle Collins was white hot capturing closest to the pin on 3 and longest putt on 8. Ryan Samp won longest drive and Dan Kirwan took longest putt on 12. Gary Toubeau traveled from California to play with the group. August 25th Golfnut News - Hooters World Championship

Will Dan Kirwan be the next Hooters World Champion

13 golfers teed it up on Sunday at Donovan GC. Tim McClintick was white hot shooting a 77 with 3 birdies on 1,8 and 10. He nearly chipped in on 10 for an eagle. Tony King posted a 78 with birdies on 9 and 13. Mickey got hot on the back 9 and took the Stableford 1st place followed by 2nd place Rick Farnan who birdied 12. Tim McClintick and Doyle Collins took closest to the pin honors again on 3 and 14. Doyle also birdied 6. Other birdie shooters were Bill Haas who chipped in on #1, Jerry Schraeder #5 and Dave Tealbey #16. 28 golfers will fight for the title of 2013 world champions this Sunday.

 Tim, Frank and Benny enjoy a great day of golf

13 golfers teed up on Sunday at Donovan. Ideal conditions led to some nice scores. Tony King and Tim McClintick shot 77 to share medalist honors. Tony chipped in for birdie on 8 and Tim birdied 8 and nearly holed his tee shot on 14 for a 2 and closest to the pin honors. Steve McDowell shot 79 with a birdie on 14. Frank Bradley started his round with a birdie on #1 and shot 39 on the front. Doyle Collins was closest to the pin on #3 and made the birdie putt. Benny Hayes was the big winner on Sunday with 2 birdies (owls)

13 golfers teed it up at Donovan GC on Sunday. Cool and windy conditions created a challenging course. Tim McClintick took medalist honors with an 82 which included birdies on 5 and 8. Benny Hayes posted birdies on 4 and 10 to capture first place ( only in America) and 2nd went to Mickey Winkler and 3rd went to Rick Farnan. Steve McDowell and Joe Wenzel zeroed in on the closest to the pin competition. A "bored" meeting followed golf at Hooters.

We will select the 4 man teams on August 18th and the Hooters world championship will be played on August 25th. Invites will be sent out soon.

11 Golfnuts teed it up on Sunday under ideal conditions. Dusty was white hot shooting a 73 with birdies on 8,10 and 15 taking 1st place in the Stableford. Jerry Schraeder carded 15 pars and shot 77 for 2nd place. Bob Kooy birdied number 8 and shot a respectable 81 for 3rd. Tim McClintick and Bob Kooy took closest to pin rewards on 7 and 17. Reno chipped in on 14 for birdie. Joe Wenzel played 11 perfect for a birdie and Rick Kirkbride birdied number 13. Tony, Ben and Tim traveled to Las Vegas for 3 days of golf with Nevada golfnut George Lange. We have 3 tee times at Donovan GC this Sunday starting at 8 am and we have no openings.

The Hooters World Championship is August 25th

10 golfers teed it up on Sunday at Kellogg. Steve Mc Dowell and Tony King shot 78 to tie for medalist honors. Steve took 1st place in the Stableford and was closest to the pin on 17. Fred Girardini was white hot posting the only birdie of the day on #6 and 2nd in the Stableford. Tony and Benny tied for 3rd. Rick Kirkbride was closest to the pin on #7. We move to Donovan this Sunday starting at 8 am. A board meeting was held after golf and we selected Hooters as the official site for the World Chammpionship. We have 3 tee times and we have 3 openings

Tim McClintick birdied #9 and shot 37 on the back nine to capture second. Steve McDowell took 3rd and was closest to the pin on #3. Bob Kooy had the only other birdie on 17 with a chip in. Tony King was closest on #14. We return to Kellogg GC starting at 8 am this Sunday. We have 5 openings

The Golfnuts welcomed Barry O'Neal from Ottawa. Tony King chipped in on 2 and 3 for birdies which helped him take medalist honors with an 81 and first place in the Stableford. Bob Kooy had the only other birdie on #18 and took 2nd. Reno played well enough to capture 3rd place. Bob Kooy and Rick Farnan won closest to the pin prizes. Seven golfers teed in up on Father's day. Tony King shot an 82 for medalist honors and took second place in the Stableford. Rick Kirkbride birdied number 14 on his way to first place in the Stableford and also won closest to the pin on #7. Fred Girardini won closest on #17 and birdied #13. Benny Hayes birdied #18. Benny also had shot of the day when his tee shot hit the yellow tee ball marker and flew backwards never to be seen again. Fred started his round with 10 bogies before hitting one in the ditch on hole 11 that ended his Bogey streak. We have 3 tee times at Kellogg starting at 8:30 am and we have no openings.

We had 11 golfers tee it up on Sunday. Tim McClintick, Mickey Winkler and Tony King all shot 82 for medalist honors. There was also a 3 way tie for first place in the Stableford with Tony, Mickey and Joe Wenzel sharing the prize. More sharing for shots of the day with Dave Tealbey sticking one close on #3 for a gimmie birdie, EZ Bill chipping in for birdie on #7 and Tim McClintick nearly holed out from the green side bunker on 18 for eagle but settled for a tap in birdie, he also birdied 16. Joe Wenzel birdied # 3 and Steve McDowell sank a monster putt for birdie on #6. We have 3 tee times for our Father's day golf on Sunday at Kellogg GC starting at 8:20 am and we have 5 openings

 2013 Golfnut trip to Eagle Ridge Resort

It's hard to beat 4 Kings

15 golfers traveled to Galena Illinois and played the very challenging South, General and North courses at Eagle Ridge Resort. Only a slight rain delay on the first day dampened the trip as the weather cooperated and all golf was completed. We had 3 golfers, Mark Wintczak, Rick Farnan, and Jerry Schraeder make the trip for the first time. A venture to Diamond Joe's Casino proved rewarding to a few crap players and Steve McDowell was white hot on the slots. Next year marks our 15th  year of this golf outing so save the date on your calendar.

4 golfers braved the frigid and windy May weather on Sunday with Steve McDowell shooting a respectable 83. Benny Hayes managed a birdie on number 8 under very tough playing conditions. The group heads to Galena IL to play at the Golf Digest #4 rated resort in the USA. The action begins on the South course at noon. We have 15 golfers participating with a medical emergency causing George Lange to miss.

EZ Bill, Benny and Tim enjoy a sunny day at the golf course

The course played tough as there were no birdies scored for the day. Joe Wenzel crushed the Stableford field for 1st place, Bob Kooy took 2nd and Mickey captured 3rd. Welcome to the 14th season of Kellogg Golfnuts. We will officially kick off the 2013 season on April 14th at Donovan GC. I would like to congratulate three golfnuts who have joined the retirement world and became full time golfers. Steve McDowell, Jeff Pohl and Reno have hung up their aprons and started the good life. We plan to use the same format and tee time strategy that we used last year. We have 3 tee times at Donovan starting at 8:30 am and we are full. Please let me know if you plan to play opening day.
