June 1st Golfnut News

EZ Bill turns 85 on June 2nd
 
 
10 Golfnuts teed it up on a beautiful Memorial Day weekend. EZ Bill shot an impressive 83 from the senior tees with a birdie on 12 which was one stroke under his age of 84. He turns 85 on June 2nd. He will be throwing out the first pitch at the Chiefs game this Sunday, game time 6 PM. He easily won the Stableford competition. Steve McDowell and Doyle Collins continued their sharpshooting iron play and took closest to the pin on # 7 and 17. Doyle birdied # 17 and Benny Hayes stuck his 3rd shot close for a birdie on 15. Senior Jerry Schraeder shot 77 for medalist.
 Brett King returns to Peoria for a round of golf with the Golfnuts. We have 4 tee times at Kellogg this Sunday starting at 8:30 am and we have 4 openings.

May 25th Golfnut News

 2014 Eagle Ridge group

Tony and EZ enjoy their 15th trip to Galena
 
16 golfers traveled to Galena for the greatest golf trip on the planet. Frank Bradley was sensational winning 1st place in the Stableford both days. He shared honors on day one with Las Vegas George Lange. The Texas Scramble  team competition was won by Rick Kirkbride, Jerry Schraeder, Joe Wenzel and led by Steve McDowell with a 71. Several different golfnuts won closest to the pin competition. The weather cooperated and kept the rain away but the winds howled on Monday at the General making it a monster. The sun and heat returned to Illinois on Tuesday providing an ideal final day for golf. We return to Kellogg GC this Sunday starting at 8:15 am. We have 3 openings.

May 18th Golfnut News

3 days of golf at the premiere resort in Illinois
 
Eleven golfers teed up on a Mother's day Sunday. It was the first nice day of the year for golf and several scores reflected the improved playing conditions. Senior sensation Jerry Schraeder posted an impressive 74 with 3 birides on 2,8 and 12 and took medalist honors and Stableford winnings. He was 10" from the cup on 12 for shot of the day. Tony King birdied number 3 and shot 79 for second place. Tim McClintick missed an eagle putt on 18 for an easy birdie and shot 79 also. Steve McDowell took closest to the pin on # 7 and Doyle Collins won #17 and also birdied it along with Rick Farnan playing together. The group travels to Galena this Sunday for its annual golf extravaganza. There will be no golf at Kellogg. Tee time responsibility for this Sunday is Mickey Winkler, Steve King and Doyle Collins.

May 11th Golfnut News

 Fred was sensational crushing the field to win 1st place in the Stableford
The golfnuts annual trip to Eagle Ridge is approaching

Only six golfers teed up on Sunday under fair skies and cool temperatures. Tim McClintick shot an 83 with three birdies on 9,13 and 18 to take the medalist honors but Fred Girardini took the Stableford money and also won closest to the pin on 17. Tony King won the closest to the pin on 7. Rick Farnan started his round with a birdie on #1 and Steve McDowell birdied the tough #4. We have 3 tee times at Kellogg starting at 8:20 am and we are full. We are less than 2 weeks away from Eagle Ridge so come on out and tune up your game.

May 4th Golfnut News

Eight golfers braved the brutal winds and cool temperatures at tee off time. The winds dissipated and the morning warmed up on the back nine for an enjoyable finish just before the rain came down.
Steve McDowell was medalist with an 83 posting a birdie on #7. Tim McClintick stuck one very close on #7 for the shot of the day and a tap in birdie, he also birdied # 9 with a chip in. Benny Hayes birdied number 18 and Rick Farnan posted a 3 on # 16. We played closest to the pin which was won by Dave Tealbey 3, Doyle Collins 12, Tim McClintick 7 & 17. Doyle travels to Torrey Pines next weekend for some championship golf. We traveled to Hooters for a bored meeting following golf.
We have 3 tee times starting at 8:20 am and there are 2 openings.
